Keyword research is an essential part of SEO copywriting. Understanding keywords and how they affect your website is vital. The right words can help you rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs). The wrong ones can lead to penalties, poor rankings, and even a complete loss of traffic.

There are many tools that people use for keyword research. Check out my favorite (and free!) tools that help you find the right words for your copy.

Google Trends

It is a handy keyword research tool for discovering historical and current trending topics worldwide, making it an ideal resource for creating relevant content. Use it to explore specific keyword data or to dig deeper into broader issues.

Answer The Public

This one provides a treasure trove of content ideas, helping users understand their customers’ thoughts, concerns, and questions. With these visualizations, you can better understand what people in your niche are exploring. You can create search-engine-optimized content by tapping into audience needs, queries and challenges.

Google Search Console

Google Search Console allows you to monitor your website’s organic search performance. It means it displays information about the keywords you already rate. Also, it reports and assists you in measuring your site’s Search traffic and performance, resolving issues, and making your site shine in Google Search results.

Keyworddit

The only tool for researching keywords that can extract keywords from Reddit is Keyworddit. You can enter a subreddit that digs through thread titles and comments for up to 500 keywords. To generate keywords, enter a subreddit name. This tool is a significant jump point if you want to learn more about a specific topic. It serves as a keyword generation device that offers search volume data and keyword ideas and a keyword research tool that extracts long-tail and seed keywords from Reddit subreddits.

Keyword Surfer

Keyword Surfer is a Chrome extension that displays estimated global and monthly search volumes for any Google query. It is a keyword comparison tool and a search volume checker for related keywords, similar keywords, visibility, and backlinks correlation. It stands separate from the full SEO suite and provides a limited version of the platform for free.

By researching keywords, you can identify which ones are most effective to target and gain valuable insight into the Google queries your target audience is exploring. These actual search terms can help you implement your content strategy and, ultimately, your larger marketing strategy.

When conducting research online, people use keywords to find solutions. Consequently, if you have content rich in the right keywords, you are likely to gain more traffic as your target audience conducts searches.

Furthermore, we shouldn’t create content around what we want people to know; instead, we should create content around what they’d like to discover. As a result, we are attracting our audience.

Let me know in the comments what tools you recommend.
